What "They" say about Pepper

So. Last night, while I couldn't sleep (again) I was, as usual, searching for new Pepper stuff. And I came across some wonderful quotes/comments about The Pep from different people that made me all emoticon

Thought I'd post some of them.

To start with - a Quicktime video clip of The Het talking about COC & how he thinks Pepper is the antichrist.

Heeee heeee. Silly James. emoticon

I couldn't upload it into my video host site for some reason - so I had to do it via YouSendIt. So a reminder - the d/l will only be available for seven days & then it expires.

You will need QuickTime to view this vid:

Seva, professionnal Mastering engineer
Dec 1, 2002 (Seva is an american Mastering engineer who worked and works for many major artists in the us music industry, like Dolly Parton, Bill Scarlett, Bill Swann, Acoustic Syndicate, Angie Foster, David Beason, and Corrosion of Comformity.

Q: Are there any of your clients that have left a memorable impression upon first meeting or during the session that you could share with the MacMusic.org visitors?

A: COC's Pepper Keenan always seemed (from the videos) to be such a dark edged power person. Turns out he wears kitchy 1950's glasses and really digs rebuilding old houses (i.e., an interior re-designer using vintage stuff). He's as quiet spoken as he is brilliant, actually.

Alex Petrovich from the band The Mighty Nimbus

Q: So, do you have any favorite singers?

A: Yeah, I would say Pepper Keenan (Corrosion Of Conformity), the New Orleans scene is and always will be an amazing scene to draw influences from.

~~~~~~~~~~
Q: What has been your most memorable incident with Mister Bones?
A: Some of the most memorable incidents I probably can’t mention just cause of the content, but one that I remember that was pretty cool, was Pepper Keenan from Corrosion of Conformity and Zakk Wylde (Ozzy’s guitarist and frontman of Black Label Society) thought Mister Bones was the best band out of Canada. They thought we were the !@#$. And that was cool.
Q: How exactly did Pepper Keenan and Zakk Wylde find out about you guys?
A: Mister Bones did a show with New Orleans sludge band Suplecs and I hit it off with Danny, the singer/bassist. So naturally when me and my girlfriend went to see the band Down play in Toronto, I told Jimmy Bower (the drummer) I knew his boy from New Orleans and he brought us back stage to smoke some grass with him and a few others - including the man almighty himself, Mr. Philip H. Anselmo, the vocalist in Down and the voice of PANTERA. We hung out with Phil that night for about 5 hours before the show, got fucked up with him, and walked up to side stage to watch the show when they went on. Well, since Pepper is in Down as well, he checked out our site, signed the guestbook, and praised us and it was a true honor! He’s the man. Zakk heard through the grapevine. We did a show in Syracuse New York with Brand New Sin. At the time they were touring with Black Label Society (Zakk’s band) and they loved us, told Zakk - and he knew about us through the guys in Sixty Watt. It’s a small community in the underground metal scene when you know what you want and how to get it. It becomes like the old saying about the world and how small it is. Well it’s like that sorta, only even smaller.
Jimmy from the band AnAkA
Q: Jimmy tell me your favorite vocalist
A: As a vocalist I would say my favorite singers would definitely be Layne Staley, Pepper Keenan, Zakk Wylde, Dave Mustaine, Chuck Billy, and James Hetfield.
Reed Mullin, COC's former drummer:
Q: Do you like to hang out after the show in all the towns you got into? Didn't you guys show up at the Allman Brothers show in NYC?
A: When we can. We will tonight. Woody said the Allmam show was awesome. Hetfield and Pepper were out all night, last night.
Q: Are you into the Internet?
A: Yeah, we all contribute to the site.
Q: I just love all the stories about how and Pepper Keenan hit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and when no one was watching Pepper held Duane's guitar. The story of seeing Michael Schenker on the same train in Japan, each going to a different city to play. Pepper got thrown out of an adult bookstore for hiding a can of beer. Great stuff I found out on your site.
A: Coz, who just walked by, was with Pepper at the adult bookstore.
Q: I guess the music comes first and then, like this time, goes into seclusion to write.
A: He did on this last record. He had a little room in a flop house/boarding house. Not because he's an artist or anything, he'd just a cheap bastard.
Q: He doesn't need much.
A: He stayed there because it was close to our practice space under Irene's Wig Shop. That's were we've been jamming for eight years. He'd go there and after we jammed on the tune, he'd scribble down some words.
Q: What did you write for the album?
A: I wrote "Albatross" on the last album and we all wrote music and lyrics on this one. Because Pepper is our vocalist, he took charge which is good.
Q: How do you settle disputes? Do you have meetings and settle things easily?
A: Sometimes. Yeah, in the past. We've learned from our mistakes. We don't let things get too far gone and fester. Each member of this band certainly has their own ways of expressing themselves. Some are a little more overt than others. Woody is a little more fairweathered, Pepper is a little more stormy. We know each other well enough now to know when to act.
When the new COC board just started, Pepper's daddy posted on it...I don't remember too much , but his b-day is May 9, 1967. He was born in Oxford, Mississippi - raised in NOLA. He studied music at university in NOLA and lived in Paris for a year.
Ok - not much, but I tried.
*does quick math*
Heh heh. Awesome.
What? 11 years isn't that much older. Besides, I'm sure men in their late 30s adore younger women. Back me up here, Anna.
Shhhh. I know he has a girlfriend. SO not the point.
Where's that damn tee shirt?! The one with emoticon on it.
I'm with ya Jillybean.
The plan remains.
Utah.
And hey. The girlfriend? What the hell? She can even come along.
It hurt me to type that. It did indeed.
But I'm okay.
Cause I'm thinking of all the Utah type of stuff that'll be going on. emoticon
